God's Greater Glory

On fire with the love of God, Ignatius of Loyola set out on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem that became for him a life-defining paradigm, so much so, that he simply refers to himself throughout his autobiographical narrative as "the Pilgrim."

For Ignatius, the spiritual life was about "finding God in all things and all things in God."  Ignatian Spirituality embodies an openness to the creative freedom of God at work wonderfully and mysteriously in all creation.

Loyola of the Lakes offers ways to experience the richness of Ignatian Spirituality - from a day of reflection to a weekend retreat.  The Retreat House brings together people who have been trained in Ignatian Spirituality - s, Women Religious, lay men and women - to help those who come here deepen their faith.  No matter where you are in your own pilgrimage, there's a place here for you to grow.

It's surprising what can happen in a day of quiet with God.  An atmosphere of solitude invites participants into God's presence, through prayer and oneness with God.  This awakens a sense of wonder and gratitude for God's goodness and graciousness in our lives.

The longer weekend allows these awakenings to sink more deeply into the mind and heart.  Participants have sufficient time to touch on the key themes of the gospels and the Spiritual Exercises: God's creative and redeeming love - initiating and unconditional, forgiving and reconciling, a love made visible and wonderfully accessible in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

At Loyola of the Lakes, we seek to carry on Ignatius' vision of opening others to the greater horizon of God's love.  If you are seeking amore intimate relationship with God, we invite you to "Come away to the Quiet."

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Elizabeth Haller, Director

Simple Examen

Placing Myself in God's loving presence, I review my day....

* When have I been aware of God?

* For what am I grateful?

*For what do I ask God's mercy?

I close with a simple prayer to God.
